Dr. Thomas M. Ward Is Now Providing Colon and Rectal Treatment, and Surgical Care in the Athens Area
University Health Alliance (UHA), a multi-disciplinary practice focusing on prevention and coordinated care, welcomes Dr. Thomas Ward, a colorectal surgeon. Now offering colon and rectal treatment and surgical care, Dr. Ward is seeing patients at the UHA Colorectal (3320 Old Jefferson Road, Building 700, Athens).
Dr. Ward’s career path was guided by his passion for science and the opportunity to apply that knowledge to assist patients. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology and a minor in religion, and he earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
He then completed his general surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, the original and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. During residency, he completed a surgical artificial intelligence and innovation research fellowship. After residency, he trained at the Cleveland Clinic for its colorectal surgery fellowship.

Dr. Ward is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
